Outgoing domain transfer

In this guide, we will see how to start an outgoing domain transfer.

Outgoing or internal transfer

First of all, you should not confuse an internal transfer with an incoming or outgoing transfer.

Allows you to repatriate the domain of an external colleague to us.

This is to move the domain to another provider (registrar).

An internal transfer

This is a transfer of the domain name from one customer account to another customer account, both accounts being with us.

A transfer of the name of domain in-house does not require in any case :

  1. Recovery of the transfer code.
  2. Unlocking the domain against the transfer.
  3. Validation of a confirmation e-mail.

On the other hand it is not necessary that :

  1. The domain name either EXPIRED.
  2. Invoices belonging to the customer account are unpaid.

Internal transfer

To request a transfer of a domain from one Magic customer account to another Magic customer account, you must open a ticket from the customer area of the cedeur with an explicit request in the following form:

SUBJECT OF THE TICKET: Moving a domain name: Internal transfer
Hello,

Please move the domain DOMAIN.TLD from client space 100XXXX to client space 100XXXY.

Reason for the request: REASON (example: Sale of the company, Change of the name of the organization, Passastion of the domain, etc.)

Please note that the internal transfer of a domain name does not change the Whois data in any way. You must request a ticket so that the owner's information in the Whois databases is replaced by the contact information of the new owner of the client account.

Outgoing transfer

First of all, and before initiating an outgoing transfer (to an external colleague for example) of your domain name, the following points should be considered must be verified :

  1. The hosting of your domain name is with us. Check the whois engine to be sure.
  2. Check that the registration period of your domain is more than 60 days (before these 60 days the transfer is impossible).
  3. Your domain name has not been transferred for at least 60 days.
  4. Your domain name did not arrive at deadline.
  5. The domain is in status " ASSETS "and will not expire in the next 30 days.
  6. Your email address associated with the domain is accessible. The system sends a confirmation e-mail to it. The transfer is launched after validation of this e-mail.
  7. Your domain name is unlocked against the transfer.
  8. There are no unpaid bills.

In addition, domain names in .FR cannot be blocked against transfer. Therefore, as soon as the transfer order is received from the incoming Registrar, AFNIC sends a confirmation request by e-mail to the outgoing and incoming Registrars as well as the concerned customer. Thus, the transfer will only take place if the 3 parties validate the confirmations and this leaves no room for malicious practices.

Moreover, the transfer of a domain name does not change the information associated with the old registrar. However, some extensions allow to combine the transfer and the change of owner at the same time.

Note

The outgoing transfer of a domain name takes from 5 to 8 days.
It is not possible to shorten this period. Try to start the transfer at least 10 days before the expiration date to avoid having your domain expire before the end of the procedure, which would include fees when renewing.

If the domain name was renewed just before the transfer, there is a possibility of losing the renewal year if it is a gTLD.

Steps to follow

Here are the steps to transfer a domain:

  1. Retrieve the transfer code: Follow this support link.
  2. Unlock the domain against transfer: Follow this support link.
  3. Disable the automatic renewal of the domain after transfer.

Retrieve my transfer code

First, go to your trademark control panel, MAGIC or NUXIT.

Follow the section Authcode domain.

The interface then directs to a new page.

Remember to enable POP UP so that the page is not blocked.

Then click on the button SEE of the field in question.

Finally click on the link View to display the transfer code.

Display the transfer code

For .be, the code is sent to the email of the owner of the domain name as defined during registration.

After retrieving the AUTH code, it is mandatory to deactivate automatic renewal of the domain and avoid a renewal in full execution of the transfer.

It is not possible to apply a refund if the automatic renewal is launched at the time of the transfer. Indeed, the year(s) are obviously added at the Registry level.

Do not forget to deactivate the automatic renewal at the end of the transfer. The system will deactivate the domain on the day of its expiration date. If the subscriber wishes to delete the domain, you should call the administrative support.

Unlock the domain against transfer

First follow the heading Domain in the menu on the left of your customer area.

Then click on the button Actions > View summary.

In the box ADVANCED OPTIONS click on the button ACTION then Disable registrar lock.

Advanced options

There are some extensions that do not require domain name unlocking.
Example: .FR .PARIS .RE .TF .WF .PM .YT
